What’s New in IBM Planning Analytics for Excel (PAfE)

IBM update Planning Analytics for Excel regularly, and we know how hard it is to keep track of what has changed and what it means for your reports. This guide brings together the latest PAfE updates, with a focus on what they mean in practice for planners and report users.

Rather than listing every technical change, we highlight the updates that affect planning, reporting and usability, and we keep this page updated as new releases are announced.

Latest Updates

2.1.24 and 3.1.11

  • Forecasting without leaving Excel: AI Forecasting, one of the most used features in Planning Analytics Workspace, and is now available in PAfE.
  • Less setup: The forecast wizard picks up the rows, slicers and columns from your Universal Report.
  • Less rework: Forecast values refresh in your report automatically.

Good to know from IBM’s recent Ask Me Anything sessions

  • Excel 2024 is supported: IBM confirmed PAfE supports Excel 2024 and said it would correct its documentation. Excel 2016 and 2019 are out of Microsoft support and Excel 2021 follows in October 2026, so check which version your team is on.
  • Universal Reports are where IBM is investing: IBM said drag and drop from other report types will move into Universal Reports, and a UI-driven editor is coming. No dates have been given.
  • Admins can already control report types: Administrators can switch off the creation of custom, dynamic, exploration and quick reports centrally, and these settings override each user’s local preferences. Read how to configure PAfE centrally →

IBM runs regular Ask Me Anything sessions on Planning Analytics. You can register for upcoming sessions and watch replays by clicking here.
