Built on top of IBM Cognos TM1, Planning Analytics is an immensely powerful multi-dimensional modelling and performance management platform, which employs ultra-fast in-memory technology. Organisations in all industries from small scale operations to the world’s largest enterprises use Planning Analytics for collaborative, interactive planning and to power their performance analysis and reporting. Planning Analytics is available on-premise or in the cloud.
Planning Analytic’s in-memory calculation engine easily handles vast quantities of data, and provides instant aggregation of results. Operational or financial performance models can be scaled-up from a handful of users to enterprise-wide applications and deployed via web, mobile or Excel. Planning Analytics has built-in functionality that provides workflow management for data collection, scenario modelling, score cards and metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and strategy modelling.
We view Planning Analytics as the beating heart of our financial performance models. It seamlessly integrates with IBM Cognos Analytics, IBM CDM, IBM Controller and IBM Watson while giving a multi-dimensional analysis capability to Group Finance. One version of the truth exists throughout.

Planning Analytic Planning Applications
Planning Analytic Planning Applications are used collect and review planning data from small through to large audiences. There are three different types: Approval, Responsibility and Central.
Approval applications are used for budgets and forecasts where plans are contributed to over a wide area, either geographically or functionally. They incorporate workflow control that provides the Group Planning function with clear vision of the progress of the plan, and ensures that contributors commit to their plan submissions.
Responsibility applications provide the same wide area workflow functionality, but without the rigid ‘submit/lock’ concept. This makes them suitable for continuous plans or other data collection that is contributed to very frequently or doesn’t have a clear begin and end.
Central applications don’t have the workflow functionality. They are used where there are a small number of people contributing, who are normally located close to one another.
